Metro Manila, Philippines - Bella Belen of the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs is set to be named the UAAP Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs team captain will receive the award before Game 2 of the finals between NU and the De La Salle University Lady Spikers on Wednesday, May 13, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Belen led NU to top spot at the end of the elimination round with a league-best win-loss record of 12-2.

The 22-year-old Belen tallied a total of 96.226 statistical points, way ahead of runner-up Shaina Nitura of the Adamson University Lady Falcons, who obtained 74.259 statistical points.

Belen, the first-ever rookie-MVP in the women’s division, finished fourth in scoring with 246 points while emerging as the most efficient attacker with a 37.76 percent success rate.

Nitura, meanwhile, will bag the Rookie of the Year award after having the highest scoring season across all divisions with 371 points.
