Metro Manila, Philippines - Barangay Ginebra is on the verge of capturing the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup title after defeating the TNT Tropang Giga, 73-66, in Game 5 of the finals on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Scottie Thompson and Justin Brownlee made crucial plays for Ginebra in the final moments of the match. The duo scored the last eight points of the contest.

Brownlee tallied 18 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists, while Thompson finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Ginebra.

Trailing by 10 points at the halftime break, Ginebra outscored the Tropang Giga, 38-21, in the second half to complete the come-from-behind win.

Japeth Aguilar and Maverick Ahanmisi each contributed 11 points for Ginebra.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Rey Nambatac also added 19 points for TNT.

Ginebra wrap up the series in Game 6 on March 26 at the Big Dome.
