Metro Manila, Philippines – A teenager in Nueva Ecija has passed away due to alleged hazing, authorities said on Monday, Sept. 30.

According to a police report, Ren Joseph Bayan, 18, informed his aunt that the Tau-Gamma Phi Fraternity will hold a final hazing against him in Barangay San Anton in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija on Sept. 29.

Around 5 p.m. of the same day, Bayan’s lifeless body was brought to their home in Barangay San Pablo in Jaen town, the aunt and witnesses said.

Police identified the suspects as Baron Cabado and Patrick Guinto, who fled in an unknown direction after leaving the victim’s body.

The Jaen police has requested assistance from the Nueva Ecija Provincial Forensic Unit for autopsy.

Meanwhile, Bayan’s school, the San Pablo National High School (SPNHS) mourned the death of the Grade 11 student.

“Ipinaaabot ng SPNHS ang taos-pusong pakikiramay para sa kaniyang naiwang pamilya, gayundin ang marubdob na panalangin na makamit niya ang kapayapaan at kapahingahan kasama ang Poong Maykapal,” it said in a social media post.
