Metro Manila, Philippines — Filipino tanker Kayla Sanchez concluded her campaign in the Paris 2024 Olympics with a 15th place finish in the women’s 100m freestyle semifinals Wednesday at the Paris La Defense Arena.

The 23-year-old Sanchez clocked in an official time of 54.21 in the Semifinal 2 which was the 15th overall among the 16 participants. Only the top eight advanced to the final.

Siobhan Bernadette Haughey of Hong Kong topped the semis with a time of 52.64 seconds followed by Australians Shayna Jack (52.72 seconds) and Mollie O’Callaghan (52.75 seconds).

Despite failing to reach the final, Sanchez still registered a new national record in the women's 100m freestyle with a time of 53.67 seconds in the heats.

Jarod Hatch is the remaining Filipino bet in swimming. He will be competing in the men's 100m butterfly on August 2.
